October Hike at Nerstrand

Yes, it was windy, but 6 ULLRs and 2 guests loved the warm and brilliant blue sky and the crunchy colored leaves on the trails at Nerstrand Big Woods State Park on Saturday, October 10.  The parking lot was packed with cars of others also there to enjoy the Park.  Even their dogs seemed to be happy to be outside on the trails!

Hike host Nancy S led the group on trails with lots of yellow and orange leaves that protected our group from the winds.  Although Hidden Falls was a trickle, the setting for the falls is a very nice view.

Hikers got a bit of a workout on some of the long hills.  Some hikers covered over 4 miles and some chose a shorter length.  All met in the pleasant Park picnic area for lunch.

After lunch and before heading for home, a few hikers stopped in Northfield to see unique colorful crotched and knitted yarn wraps on trees at Bridge Square Park.  Plus, the Cannon River views of the dam were also beautiful and calming.

To say it simply – it was a great day to be outside with friends!
